RG 87-155 GLO Survey Maps, 1816-1860

A collection of survey maps detailing Mendon Township in St. Joseph County, Michigan. The first survey map in this collection details all of Mendon Township with the exception of the Nottowasepe Indian Reservation located in the western section of the township and was completed in July 1826. The second map details Nottowasepe Indian Reservation; this survey was completed in 1835. The third map, completed in 1845, is of islands in the portion of the St. Joseph River that runs through Mendon Township.

According to the map notes, while the township lines were drawn in 1837, the subdivision lines were created in 1838. The second map details an island in Mud Lake, located in Section 19 of Sidney Township. The island was surveyed in August 1889.

The second map details islands in the portion of the Grand River that runs through Eagle Township; this survey was completed in 1855.

The township lines were measured in 1837; the subdivision lines were measured in 1839. The second map details an island in the portion of Town Line Lake, located in Section 6 of Belvidere Township. The survey was completed in June 1911.

The first map details all of Big Rapids Township; the township lines were measured in 1837 while the subdivision lines were measured in 1838. The second map details islands in the portions of the Muskegon River that run through Sections 10, 11, and 36 in Big Rapids Township. This survey was completed in 1856.
