The township lines were measured in 1838; the subdivision lines were re-measured in 1852. However, the township underwent a dependent re-survey. This re-survey occurred from June to August 1937.

The first survey map in this collection details all of Leonidas Township, with the exception of the portion of land allotted to the Nottowasepe Reservation, and was drawn in June 1826. The second map details the land belonging to the Nottowasepe Reservation in Leonidas Township; this survey was completed in 1835.
