Pension Certificate of James D. Elderkin dated January 26, 1893.

This is volume one of a forty-six set. It follows the First Michigan Infantry regiment. The series is a compilation of the military history of each soldier of the Civil War who was a resident of the State of Michigan at the time of enlistment.

Letter from John Starkweather to his cousin Van dated March 22, 1861. The letter is written on the back of a tobacco advertisement. John apologizes for the lack of communication he sent back home and explains that his company was on their way back home until all communication was cut off.
