Report on a project investigating the characteristics of the local woodcock population at High Island in northern Lake Michigan. The major objectives included determining: (1) dynamics of a heavily exploited local woodcock population, (2) the degree to which singing ground counts and wing collections may be useful in appraising population status, (3) the effects of hunting on the population, and (4) behavioral characteristics of the population that may limit the population growth or be important in woodcock management.
