These records document data that is submitted by school districts about safety practices, incidences of crime in public schools, and dual enrollment. SID data are collected at the end of each school year. A separate statewide data set is generated for each submission period. The approximately 34 fields of data are aggregate totals by school/facility for the school year.
These records document aggregate graduation and dropout rates for school districts. Between 1991-2002 data were extracted from the K-12 database. Beginning with the 2004/2005 school year the data were extracted from the SRSD. This process was then transitioned over to the MSDS. A new statewide data set is generated for each school year. Enrollment, transfer, and exit data are used to calculate the rates. Reports are generated at the building, district and state level for reporting to the Legislature and others. Intermediate versions of the data are sent to school districts for verification, and are then corrected. School districts can appeal the correction before the data is finalized.
These records document school districtand school facility data that ismaintained throughout the year bydistricts and public school academiesin the EEM. The EEM includes generaldirectory information, as well as theofficial district and school identificationcodes of all K-12 public facilities andother entities. Approximately 47 fieldsof data are collected about eachschool building at this time.
K-12 Databases, 1991-2002. The K-12 Database includes historical aggregate data on Achievement, Student Programs, Financing, Headcount, Staffing, Transportation, Food and Nutrition, FTE, and State-aid. Data was submitted by school districts, the Department of Treasury, and the Department of Education. Primary users of the K-12 Database are: K-12 schools; colleges and universities; researchers; state and federal legislators; local governments; the Department of Management and Budget; and the Department of Education. Standard output reports generated by various users included Headcount, Dropout Rates, Graduation Rates, Financial Data, and other ad hoc reports. The K-12 database contains data ranging from 1991 - 2002. Most functionality of this database was replaced by other databases maintained by CEPI and the Department of Education that collect item level data (students, staff, finances, etc.) rather than aggregate data. The databases were originally created using dBase software. A manifestation was created in the CSV file format which can be used with Microsoft Excel and other text reading software.
These records document data that is submitted by school districts to produce reports for the U.S. Department of Education and for the state of Michigan regarding school personnel. REP data are also provided to the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for teacher certification audit. Additionally, MDE and the Michigan State Police compare the REP data with the criminal conviction database. Personnel data are collected for all school employees. Data are collected two times each year, in the fall and at the end of the school year. A new statewide data set is generated for each submission period. Approximately 30 fields of data are collected about each employee and contractor (approximately 340,000 individuals).
These records document unaudited (DS-4061) and audited (DS-4120) aggregate district-level FTE totals based on the data certified through MSDS. It is generated twice per school year, after the Fall and Spring General Collections. Data may include, but may not be limited to, district, date, and FTE categories.
These records document data that is submitted annually by shcool districts, including information from districts' audited annual financial reports, balance sheets, revenues, district expenditures and school expenditures. In order for districts to submit their data via the FID, they must be in compliance with the Michigan Public School Accounting Manual Chart of Accounts. A separate statewide data set is generated for each submission period.
These records document agency-developed publications used as a mechanism to distribute information or publicize agency activities. They may include, but may not be limited to, brochures, pamphlets, training materials, reports, fact sheets, books, magazines, newsletters, calendars, maps, posters, and public relations materials.
These records document the Form B Reports that were generated from the FID in March and August of each year. The data was validated before the reports were submitted to the U.S. Department of Education.
