Color postcard from circa 1911-1912 showing a bird's-eye view of Jackson, Michigan, looking north towards the Michigan State Prison. The prison was opened in 1839 and was the first in Michigan. The prison was essentially the center of the city until 1924, when a new facility was built north of the city.
