Waterfowl regulations are adjusted periodically to reflect the population status and habitat conditions of species most common in the harvest. Hunter success and harvest composition are influenced by breeding habitat conditions (recruitment of young), timing of hunting seasons, and weather. This report reviews regulations, waterfowl habitat conditions, weather and waterfowl movements, and preliminary results of the 2003-04 Michigan waterfowl hunting season.
