Black and white clipping of a lithograph from "The County of Eaton, Michigan" published in 1895. According to "Past and Present of Eaton County," published in 1915 by the Historical Publishing Co. in Lansing (Mich.), the building was owned by Miss Marinthia Kinne, a prosperous and well regarded single woman in Charlotte in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. She referred to the building facetiously as the "Old Maid" block. The building housed the dry goods store Harmon Pennington.
