Biography or Historical Note: The Michigan Public Service Commission was created by Public Act 3 of 1939 and was preceded by state Railroad Commission and Public Utilities Commission. It operated independently until the Executive Reorganization Act of 1965 when it was moved to the Department of Commerce. It currently operates under the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
