Michigan State Police is headed by a Director, who is appointed by the Governor. The Director also serves as the Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director for the state.
The Training Division is responsible for providing criminal justice training and traffic safety support services. The division is responsible for providing basic training to MSP recruits and inservice training for MSP employees and for personnel throughout the criminal justice system. The division also provides statewide traffic safety services and alcohol enforcement assistance.
