Michigan Executive Office

The Communications Division works to deliver the governor's messages through media outlets.

The Constituent Relations Division is responsible for the governor's day-to-day outreach to Michigan residents. 

Michigan’s governor is elected to a four-year term. The governor’s responsibilities include supervising state government departments, appointing members to boards and commissions, submitting messages to the legislature and recommending legislation, submitting an annual budget to the legislature, issuing commutations, pardons, and extradition orders, and serving as the chairperson of the State Administrative Board.

The Legal Division coordinates and oversees all legal issues related to the governor's office. 

The lieutenant governor is nominated at the party convention and elected with the governor to a four-year term. The lieutenant governor serves as the President of the Michigan Senate and votes in the case of a tie. The lieutenant governor is also a member of the State Administrative Board and would succeed the governor in the case of death, impeachment, removal from office or resignation. 

The Office of Administrative Services provides a variety of support to the governor's office, including human resources, employee relations, budget and financial services and IT support.

The Office of Foundation Liaison identifies opportunities for public/private partnerships between state government and philanthropic organizations.

The Office of Strategic Policy's role is to develop policy pertaining to issues facing the State of Michigan. 

The Scheduling Division coordinates travel itineraries for the governor and arranges support for the governor at events across the state. 

The Washington, D.C. Office handles federal issues that directly relate to Michigan, including communication with Michigan's Congressional delegation.
