This accession contains the papers of the Ross family of North Branch, Lapeer County, Michigan. Guy E. Ross invented, manufactured, and sold hydraulic log turners for use in sawmills through the Ross Hydraulic Log Turner Company. The bulk of the collection is his wife Lepha's correspondence regarding patent applications for Guy's log turning inventions after his death. Official letters patent included in the collection are for Sawmill Log Turner (1952), Log Loader for Sawmills (1962) and Log Loader and Turner for Sawmills (1962). Other material includes photographs of the Ross family and the log turning inventions, advertisements for the Ross Hydraulic Log Turner Company, and metal name plates with patent numbers.
