He also mentions that there is a rumor that Charleston has fallen to the Union Army.

Biography or Historical Note: John S. Potter, Elba. Enlisted in company F, Twenty-second Infantry, Aug. 8, 1862, at Lapeer, for 3 years, age 24. Mustered Aug. 22, 1862. Taken prisoner at Chickamauga, Ga., Sept. 20, 1863. Died in prison at Richmond, Va., March 18, 1864.
