The Clean Air Assistance Compliance Advisory Panel monitors the effectiveness of the Michigan Clean Air Assistance Program that helps small businesses comply with the federal Clean Air Act. The panel prepares advisory reports and periodic reports to the United States Environmental Protection Agency. These reports evaluate the effectiveness of the state program and the costs associated in complying with the air quality legislation. Their responsibilities include providing technical assistance to small businesses and to review information prepared by the program to assure that it is understandable to laypersons. The panel members are appointed by the governor, state legislature, and director of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
