Biography or Historical Note: The Department was officially formed in 2010 after merging the Department of Management and Budget with the Department of Information Technology. The DTMB is headed by a Director that is appointed by the Governor. Within the DTMB is the State Administrative Board, Office of Children's Ombudsman, the Office of the State Employer, The State Budget Office, and the Office of Retirement Services. DTMB’s responsibilities include information and technology support to the other state departments and state finances.

Office of Financial Management

The Office of Financial Management is responsible for issuing statewide policies and procedures related to financial management and internal control, operating the state's centralized financial management, issuing the State of Michigan Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, W-2s for state employees, 1099 forms for state vendors, and other financial reports.

The Office of Retirement Services administers retirement programs for Michigan's state employees, public school employees, judges, state police, and National Guard members. The office serves more than 530,000 active and retired employees.
